And I hate to quote a Gawker article on your blog, but with their article (http://gawker.com/5377967/will-obama-turn-down-the-nobel-prize-no-but-he-should) they made the bold procolmation that this could "devalue" of the award. And my opinion actually has nothing to do with my political leanings (one could argue that jon Cryer winning for "Two and a Half Men" devalued *that* award too. :-p). The NPP is now on my list of Things That Sound Cool And Impressive Until You See Some Of The "Winners", along with: Rhodes Scholar, NY Times Best-Selling Author.<br /><br />To wit: Le Duc Tho supposedly "declined" it in 1973, but he's still listed as a Laureate for that year. So you can decline to show up and accept it, but they still award it to you. This isn't in his hands. (Which is not to say I disagree that awarding him to it is bizarrely premature, as well as politically counterproductive, which it is. But by ...
